McNeal leads Spring at Cy Falls 7-on-7

Spring athlete Kenric McNeal didn't have the best start to the 7-on-7 season Saturday at Cy Falls High School as McNeal and his Spring teammates narrowly dropped their first game of pool play to Klein Forest. McNeal, however, led Spring to two victories in the last two pool play games to earn Spring's way into the semifinals.

Spring, however, couldn't qualify for the state tournament at Texas A&M in July after falling in the semifinals. The top two teams, Klein Oak and Cy Falls, qualified for the state championship.

McNeal, who is being recruited mainly as a receiver by most schools, played quarterback for Spring. He played the position every other possession and was the snapper during the drives where he didn't play quarterback.

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound prospect has scholarship offers from Texas A&M, Arizona, Houston, Ole Miss, Missouri and Rice. He is gaining increased interest from Oregon, Purdue, Notre Dame, Iowa and LSU.
