Two stand out for Southeast Texas safety

Kirbyville safety Broderick Jackson moved to the small Southeast Texas school from the much-larger Humble High on the outskirts of Houston prior to his sophomore year. The 5-foot-11, 201 pound athlete actually played some games on Humble's varsity as a freshman and his skill showed up quickly at his new home.

This past season, while playing both running back and safety, Jackson helped lead the Wildcats to the third round of the state playoffs and an 11-2 overall record. He was named first-team all-district on both sides of the ball. For his efforts, he has gained notice among college coaches.

"Stanford, Rice, Baylor and A&M are the ones that are showing the most interest now," said Jackson. "Texas A&M, Baylor, SFA and Rice have all said they're close to offering and Baylor, I'm supposed to call them and I think they're gonna send a written offer."
