Roberts has summer trips planned

Jeramie Roberts played much of his junior season with a stress fracture in his foot. The injury was not properly diagnosed until this spring. While it did not require surgery, Roberts is currently wearing a walking boot so it can fully heal.

"I'll be 100 percent by the time our preseason camp for football starts this summer," explained the 6-foot-4, 305-pound lineman from Garland (Texas) South. "I will not be able to fully workout until July so I am not going to be able to go to any camps this summer.

"But I plan on taking a few trips to see some of the colleges that are recruiting me. It will give me a chance to see the campuses and meet all the coaches. I am going to check out the Miami Hurricanes in June and in July I am going to see the Kansas Jayhawks and the University of Colorado."

Miami, Baylor, Colorado and Cincinnati are the programs that have offered him a scholarship to this point.

Roberts is very excited about all of his upcoming visits.

"Miami is Miami, I think that visit is going to be really neat," he expressed. "I am one of their top recruits so I am sure I will be treated well coming out there. I have wanted to go out there just to see Miami for a while now so it is going to be really fun. I am going down there with my mom.

"With Kansas I heard they have a new weight lifting facility. That is one of the things I am looking for in a college. I want to go somewhere that has a nice workout facility that will help me get stronger.

"And then Colorado, it is very gorgeous out there. I have heard a lot of good things about the program there. I have never been up to the University of Colorado so I haven't seen the campus before but I have been to the state of Colorado before and it is a pretty nice place."

Offensive line coach Jeff Grimes has been in contact with Roberts from the Buffaloes' staff.

Roberts previously visited Baylor and he came away from that trip impressed with the Bears.

"The coaches [at Baylor] were really nice," he said in a recent Rivals.com update. "Everybody there was nice. They were saying, 'We're trying to turn this program around and we're going to be better than we have in the past'."

Roberts was a second-team all-district selection as a defensive lineman last fall but he said that every college is recruiting him as an offensive lineman.

"The colleges have told me that they like that I don't ever stop until the play is over," he explained. "I have great feet for a big guy and I play the game with a lot of heart. I leave it all out of the field."

Roberts was originally hoping to make his college decision before the start of his senior season. But as of right now he is not sure if that will happen. "I am just kind of playing things by ear," he said.
