ISU one of four offers for Skillens

Tulsa (Okla.) Booker T. Washington cornerback Justin Skillens finds himself in a good position this summer. Skillens has four solid scholarship offers and strong interest from a trio of other quality college football programs. The 5-foot-8, 172-pounder is hitting a couple of camps this month and looking to make his college decision by the end of the summer. But he's not opposed to stretching the process out into the fall if need be.

Skillens said Monday that Iowa State, Texas Tech, Tulsa and Air Force remains his list of four scholarship offers to date. He's also receiving interest from Oregon State, Arkansas and Oklahoma State, he said. Skillens has unofficially visited Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Tulsa and said a trip to ISU may happen yet this summer as well.

"I don't know, it's a long way to go, but I'd like to see Iowa State, I might try to make it (to Ames) this summer," Skillens said. "I haven't talked to Coach Raney for a couple of weeks, but everything is good. They are looking at me to play cornerback and be in their return game. Some of the schools are talking about offense, too. A lot of them see me in the return game."

As for a decision timeline, Skillens said he is favoring sooner rather than later but he's going to make sure he takes enough time to get it right.

"I plan on deciding before the season starts," said Skillen. "But if there's not a clear cut choice for me to make at that time, I'll probably take some official visits."
