Cyclones look good to Broomfield
Palm Bay (Fla.) Bayside safety Deon Broomfield was ultra-productive on the football field as a junior and earned multiple post-season honors for his play. Now the 6-foot-0, 170-pound prospect is starting to get the recruiting attention to match his production on the field and currently sports two scholarship offers.
The first school to come through and offer Broomfield was Florida Atlantic. The Owls came through earlier this spring, then Broomfield's second offer arrived right at the end of the spring evaluation period.
"Just last week I got offered by Iowa State," Broomfield said. "They came to one of my spring practices. I didn't talk to them, but my coach gave me a call and said their coaches wanted to speak to me. I talked to Coach (Gene) Chizik and their DB's coach last week and (the offer) was kind of surprising."
Besides Iowa State and Florida Atlantic, Broomfield is also getting heavily recruited by South Florida and is hearing from Purdue. The early interest from the Cyclones, though, has them riding high as one of his favorites.
"I talked to my dad about [visiting] and our airport down here has a direct flight to their city, so it's really cheap and probably in July will see it," he said.
