Frogs offer Texas speedster

Crosby, Texas athlete Chance Casey has what all college recruiters covet in players-game breaking speed and versatility. A starter since his sophomore year when he earned the district newcomer, Casey has amassed over 2,000 yards rushing and scored 27 touchdowns the last two seasons.

The 5-foot-11, 165-pounder with 4.4 speed has seen his recruitment pick up recently and has five offers on the table from Colorado State, Iowa State, Baylor, Houston and TCU. Casey is also starting to gain interest from other football powers in LSU, Nebraska, and Texas A&M to name a few.

With a nice list of schools showing him attention, Casey says he's remaining open to the whole process.

"I don't have a favorite right now," he said. "I'm looking at academics and a school's athletic potential. I'm also looking at how far away a school is. Location is a little bit of a factor, it's not necessary for me to stay close but it would be nice."

While Casey lines up at runningback for Crosby, he says most teams like him for a different position.

"Most the teams recruiting me are looking at me as a slot receiver type or a defensive back. It doesn't matter what position I play, I just want to have the chance to play."

Casey says the Horned Frogs offered him a scholarship a few weeks ago but he's unsure what position that will be for.

"TCU offered me at the end of May or beginning of June," he said. "They haven't told me what position they want me at. I know they have a good program but I haven't done much research on them, I haven't had much time. Coach Anderson is the coach I talk to."

Casey has hopes of narrowing down his choices, but when is what he's unsure of.

"I'm not real sure when I'll make a decision," he said. "I thought at first I wanted to wait as long as possible but that might change. But at the same time I don't want to get caught rushing the thing."
