Hector getting close to pulling trigger

JaWarren Hector called Ole Miss assistant coach Ron Dickerson Jr., recently and informed he was getting close to committing to the Rebels.

The 6-foot-2, 201-pound defensive end/outside linebacker from Mobile (Williamson), Ala., just had one request: He wants to see the school and Oxford first.

"He said that's good," Hector said. "It went fine. I'm going to call him back when he comes back off his vacation and set something up.."

Ole Miss leads for the three-star standout, and if all goes well during his trip to the Oxford campus, a commitment could follow.

"I just want to see that it's a safe place to be, a nice place where I can get comfortable," Hector said. "I don't know much really, but I'd like to get to know a little more about it know."

For Ole Miss fans who don't know much about Hector, the nation's No. 39 weak-side defensive end prospect provided a scouting report.

"I'm intelligent," Hector said. "I don't mind working hard. I'm dedicated to the game and I'll do anything to win."

Hector said Dickerson and other Ole Miss coaches have indicated that they'd like to look at him at both outside linebacker and defensive end before choosing a permanent football home.

"I probably would prefer linebacker when I get there, but wherever they need me, I'll play it," Hector said.

Hector, who recorded 87 tackles and 14 quarterback sacks as a junior, has a 20 on the ACT and is on track to meet initial-eligibility requirements.
