Cyclones one of four to offer DE
Iowa State is the top offer to date for a Texas defensive end who said level of competition is the main football factor he's looking at in deciding on a school. Lufkin's Germad Reed has four scholarship offers approaching mid-July and is really limiting his recruiting focus to those four schools at this time.
The 6-foot-2, 235-pound Reed holds offers from ISU, Houston, UTEP and Louisiana Tech. While his first criteria is academics and comparing kinesiology and pre-med programs - which all of his prospective schools offer, he said - he's also looking at other things related to program prestige.
"I plan to visit them all officially and look at the campus and the surroundings and what they have in my major," Reed said. "The most important thing regarding football is what conference they are in, the competition they play. I'm looking for the school that can best get me ready to play on Sundays if that is something I have a chance to pursue. Then it's cool coaches, a cool atmosphere, a place I can call home."
