Casey makes unofficial visit to TCU

Crosby, Texas athlete Chance Casey is considered one of the fastest athletes in the state, especially on the football field. Casey, who lines up primarily at running back is getting interest from several programs to use his game breaking speed from the slot position.

So far Casey has amassed six offers from TCU, Baylor, Colorado State, Iowa State, Houston, and most recently Nebraska. The fleet 5-foot-11, 165-pounder says he would like to do track at the next level and so far it appears each school will give him that opportunity.

"Nebraska has mentioned that I could run track," he said. "Baylor said I could, Iowa State, U of H, TCU is another one that said I could rin track."

Casey, who hasn't tipped his hand and named any favorites was in Ft. Worth Friday for an unofficial visit to TCU. How did the visit go?

"It went good," he said. "They're actually doing a lot of building and putting in nice new facilities. The coaches I met were real nice and real friendly. I really liked it. I got to meet Coach Patterson, he's a real nice guy and real friendly. He said that they are really excited about me as a player. They're recruiting me as a slot receiver."

So did the visit place the Frogs atop the speedster's list.

"Well, I still don't have any favorites," he said. "Right now I'm still open."

Casey, who rushed for nearly 1,200 yards in '07 will be used again as the go-to back but he expects to be used a little more in the open in '08.

"I think I'll play mostly running back again," he said. "But I'm supposed to do a lot of motioning out of the backfield and stuff and be used as a receiver."

Casey plans on making visits to Houston and Nebraska in the coming weeks and says he will take as many visits he can before making a decision.
