2010 LB picks up first offer
It was only a matter of time until Raleigh (N.C.) Southeast linebacker Kendall Moore picked up his first verbal offer. That time came on Thursday, when NC State defensive coordinator Mike Archer informed Moore the Wolfpack would be putting that offer into writing when September rolls around.
Moore, a 6-foot-1, 225-pound prospect, was excited about the offer, and more should be on the way.
"My dad was talking to Mike Archer and he told my dad initially," Moore explained. "He told me I should call (Archer) later. So I called him and that's basically what he said.
"He was telling me what he liked about me. He said I could play a little defensive end for him also and he likes that I'm versatile. With their defense, he thinks I'd be a good fit."
NC State isn't the only school in contact with Moore, though it is the closest school to home.
"I've been talking to North Carolina and I've talked a lot to Maryland. Our linebacker (Demetrius Hartsfield) from last year went there so I think he's seen me a lot."
While most of Moore's attention these days is coming from ACC schools, he has spent most of his time following another conference.
"My mom went to LSU so I grew up on the SEC," he said. "My whole family lived in Louisiana. SEC football is real big for me. I just recently started liking the ACC. The SEC takes football real seriously. Tennessee, LSU ... all of them are top schools and very good.
"I haven't really been in touch with them much. Mostly I've been talking to ACC schools."
South Carolina is one SEC school that Moore has been in touch with. The Gamecock coaches has mentioned the possibility of playing a little defensive end as well.
"Location doesn't really matter to much to me," Moore said. "I want my parents to be able to see me play but that's about it.
"I want to find a school with good academics and get a good major and everything. I also want a good program with a lot of history."
Moore has camped at NC State, Wake Forest and North Carolina this summer. He plans on working out at Maryland next Wednesday.
