Armwood trio takes unofficial visit to AU

Armwood High School in Seffner, Fla. is home to a quartet of top recruits in the 2009 class. Three of them were in Auburn this weekend.

LB Petey Smith, ATH Mywan Jackson and DB Angelo Hadley all made the trek to the Plains to check out the Tigers. DE Ryne Giddins was also scheduled to make the trip, but wasn't able to.

Smith, brother to Auburn RB signee Eric Smith, said the visit couldn't have gone much better.

"We came in Friday and took a tour, looked around the school and talked to the coaches," said Petey. "I talked to (recruiter) coach Greg Knox, (LB) coach James Willis and coach Tommy Tuberville. They were all really excited about us being here.

"The visit was excellent. It was everything I thought it would be and a little bit more."

Petey, Jackson and Hadley all took in the Tigers' first practice of the fall Saturday.

"It was nice to get to see them practice," said Petey. "I watched the linebackers and saw what drills they do. Coach Willis told me some things I needed to work on to get myself prepared for the next level. Me and coach Willis are building up a pretty good relationship. He's real wise. He played here and he played in the (National Football) League. Everything he tells me I just take it and run with it."

Petey got the chance to meet with Knox and Tuberville at length.
