Cyclones the team to beat for LB Jones

Tallahassee (Fla.) Godby linebacker Justin Jones has taken it easy this summer and let the recruiting process play out, but with the start of his senior season looming the 5-foot-10, 196-pound Jones is also starting to take action with his recruitment. He has already talked with one school about a September official visit.

A three-star prospect and the No. 75 inside linebacker nationally according to, Jones holds offers from Iowa State, Tulane, South Alabama and Ball State. He's been in close contact with the Iowa State coaches and could be looking at a quick decision if everything goes well on the visit he has tentatively set with them.

"I am supposed to be taking a visit there in the beginning of September," Jones reported. "I want to see what they have to offer me. The coaches keep in close contact with me, so I just want to see what it's like and the atmosphere at the school. They are one of my top schools, so if everything goes well then I might consider picking them as my school."

Jones plays the middle linebacker position for Godby. Reaching 107 tackles appears to be in play this fall, especially considering that as a junior he recorded 188 total tackles including 25 for loss and five sacks. He may even get to play a little running back this year.
