Bloodlines and production make Holliday a catch
Thanks to a bloodline that has produced four all-state football players and a junior season in which he recorded 1,257 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns, JJ Holliday is quickly becoming a popular name in football recruiting circles.
The 6'1", 165-pound wideout carries as 4.41 forty-yard-dash time as well as scholarship offers from Colorado State, Wyoming and Utah. In addition to the offers, he is also hearing routinely from Arizona State, Stanford, Arizona, UNLV and Cal-Berkley.
"I want to be a part of a solid program with great coaches and a competitive football team," said Holliday. "I also want to be at a college with high standards academically and athletically."
High standards athletically are something that run in the Holliday family. Holliday's uncle, Andre White, played safety at Missouri, starting as a freshman. His father was also an All-State athlete in football, basketball and track, while three of his uncles were all-staters in football and two played in college.
While proximity and his cousin's collegiate career have made Holliday a fan of Arizona, Arizona State and Missouri football, he said he would to take official visits to Arizona State, Utah, UNLV, Cal and Colorado State.
"I have heard from the Colorado State," he said. "Coach Wilks (Wilkinson) by email regularly, and coaching staff through the mail. They send me information on the school and coaches. The program sounds great, the coaches are nice. I would like to take a look at the campus."
