Byrd adds another big offer

One of the top cornerbacks in Palm Beach County picked up another offer this week. When Pahokee High School's Jarvis Byrd arrived at practice earlier this week his coach told him he needed to make a phone call.

"On Tuesday my coach told me to call Coach Williams from FAU," said the 5 foot 10, 175-pound Byrd. "I called him up and he told me that they were offering me a scholarship. Coach Williams said they really liked the way I played."

Byrd was planning on announcing his decision on August 30th. Is that still the case or have his plans changed?

"I am still announcing August 30th. My schools under consideration right now are Troy, FAU and Kent State."

Pahokee opens the season against Olive Branch, MS in Miami.

"Practice is going good. We are just focusing on working hard."

Pahokee has won 28 consecutive games entering the season.

FAU was the only school to have coaches at Pahokee's spring game against Dwyer High School in May.
