It's all Iowa State for Taylor Martin

Iowa State had a non-traditional Thursday game to open its 2008 football season. And a junior college prospect took a non-traditional Wednesday through Friday official visit to ISU, in large part so he could attend the Cyclones' 44-17 waltz past South Dakota State.

Lancaster (Cal.) Antelope Valley College defensive lineman Taylor Martin, an Atlanta (Ga.) native, did catch the sights and sounds of ISU's 2008 opener on Thursday before jetting back to California on Friday. The 6-foot-3, 250-pounder gave the game and the trip high marks.

"It went good, that's what I can say about it," Martin shared. "I was there Wednesday and Thursday and left on Friday. I saw the campus and toured the facilities and talked to academic people. Then I went to the game. I really liked the fan base."

Martin said Iowa State is in a league of its own when it comes to those schools that are recruiting him.

"They are the one school that has offered me so that means a lot," said Martin. "So far, it's the best school I've talked to."
