SoCal DB up to five offers

Los Angeles (Calif.) Venice has consistently sent its best players to the D-I level and this year is no different. This year there is another player who has five offers on the table and appears to be headed to a D-I school in cornerback/running back JR McConico (5-10, 175, 4.5).

"JR is a big time cover corner," Venice coach Angelo Gasca said. "He has covered our opposition's best receiver for the last two years.

"It didn't matter who we played Dorsey, Taft, Oaks Christian and all of those schools had good receivers, we would have JR match up against their best receiver," Gasca said. "He did a great job for us. Heck, he had eight picks."

According to Gasca, McConico worked on his skills at the Washington camp this past summer and was so impressive that he earned a scholarship offer. He also has offers on the table from San Diego State, UNLV, San Jose State and SMU.
