UGA sends Florida junior a written offer

Recruiting is a year around job now for college coaches and many schools have coaches out this fall evaluating class of 2010 prospects. Georgia hit South Florida last spring during the evaluation period and they saw enough to offer Ted Meline a scholarship.

"Georgia, Boston College, Florida State, and UCF have offered me," said Meline. "UCF was the first to offer me verbally and Georgia was the first to send me a written offer. They sent me one last week."

The 6-foot-2, 171 pound playmaker out of Miami (Fla.) Westlake Prep is hearing from plenty of other schools as well.

"Florida, Auburn, Alabama, and South Carolina are schools that I think could offer me soon. I get a lot of letters every day, but I think those schools are close to offering me. Oregon is another one. They may send me the most mail."

Is all the attention early in his junior season surprising to Meline?

"I was really surprised by Boston College's offer because I have not heard from them in a while until the offer arrived. I really did not expect the offers, but a lot of schools topped by to watch us during spring, so I have been getting recruited since then."

Georgia was one of the many schools that had a coach stop in at Westlake Prep during the evaluation period.
