Doolittle the comeback 'kid'
A little more than a year ago, Tez Doolittle thought he was finished with football.
But Saturday, the sixth-year senior will start his first career game for Auburn when Tennessee visits Jordan-Hare Stadium, just 13 months after tearing his Achilles.
"It means a lot to me," Doolittle said. "I've been working my tail off trying to get to that spot, and I finally got there."
Doolittle had a far different outlook last August when he suffered the injury on the final day of two-a-days.
"I was thinking it's over with. I'm never going to play ball again," he said. "That's the only thing going through my head, I'm never going to play ball again. I'd graduated. I wasn't ready for a job at the time. I just wanted to play ball. That's all I wanted to do."
Doolittle had surgery to reattach his Achilles and the doctors told him the rehab would take at least 16 months. Doolittle had other plans. He was back working out with his teammates in less than nine months.
