Brinkley checking out his options

Richmond (VA) forward Josh Brinkley has been a traveling man over the last month and that pattern shows no signs of stopping. Brinkley has been to Quinnipiac and Hampton University in the past two weeks and will be in Delaware this weekend. All that travel and he says he wants to get to Fort Collins before he declares his visits over.

Brinkley is a 6'7" forward from Douglas Freeman High School in Richmond who averaged 15.8 points, seven rebounds and three assists in leading his team to a 17-6 mark. Last season Brinkley played primarily inside, but enjoyed his new role on the wing, which he played during the summer in AAU tournaments.

Currently, Brinkley holds scholarship offers from Delaware, St. Francis, Quinnipiac, Hampton, Mount Saint Mary's, Charleston Southern, South Carolina State and Colorado State. Two weeks ago Brinkley kicked off his visit schedule with a trip to Quinnipiac, before going to Hampton last weekend. This weekend Delaware is on the slate.

Brinkley said he enjoyed the Quinnipiac campus in Hamden, Conn. and the atmosphere, as well as the Hampton visit. In each case, he mentioned he felt very welcome, which is important for him.

"What I am looking for a school is, I want a nice coaching staff, someone who has a communications program, a good atmosphere, a nice campus and somewhere I can feel welcome at," Brinkley said.

This weekend's trip to Delaware will be Brinkley's official visit after a couple unofficial visits to campus previously.

"I want to see their campus and feel welcome like I did at all the other schools," Brinkley said. "I am already cool with the coaching staff."

Brinkley added that he gets plenty of mail from Fort Collins and the Colorado State coaching staff and hopes to take a visit to see the campus. If he does, he will have to plan quick as Brinkley said he would like to make his college choice within the next month.
