Burton is one prospect to watch
Growing up, Pierce Burton undoubtedly had the posters of NBA players on his wall as he dreamt of slam dunking his way on through college. But as the athletic 6-foot-7, 240-pounder started to see his body develop, he knew that hooping it up was probably more dream than reality. Burton decided to give the gridiron a try and now he's a bona-fide offensive lineman prospect who is getting watched very closely his senior season.
"I thought basketball is where I was going to make it - I've been 6-foot-7 since the eighth grade and I thought I'd get to about 6-foot-11," Burton said. "But I stopped growing up and instead started growing out, so I decided I might as well play football. Last year was my first year playing, but I feel that especially in the last few months I've really developed as far as my skills go."
Burton is playing both ways this season but his future will likely be at offensive tackle. He played the position for the first time last season and camped at several places over the summer to further his development.
