Ringer needs 103 to reach 1,000 against Iowa

EAST LANSING - Michigan State running back Javon Ringer says that he can keep on carrying the football 40 times per game or more as long as his offensive line keeps on blocking the way they have through five games and his body continues to hold up the way it has thus far.

"As long as the offensive line keeps producing and the fullbacks and tight ends," said Ringer, "so far I feel okay."

Ringer has carried the football 187 times for 897 yards through five games. He leads the Big Ten in rushing and ranks second nationally with 179.4 yards per game. Ringer ranks first nationally in all-purpose yards (235.6 ypg.), rushing touchdowns (12), and scoring (14.4 ppg.).

Ringer needs 103 yards against Iowa to become the fastest Michigan State running back to reach 1,000 yards in a season. Achieving that milestone will not be easy, as Ringer will face a stout Iowa defense that ranks fourth in the Big Ten conference against the run.
