Macarthy updates his recruiting

After a slow start, quarterback Dolapo Macarthy has led his team to three wins in the last four week to improve Merrillville's overall record to 5-3 on the season. The 6-foot-5, 200-pound Macarthy, who has thrown for 709 yards and gained another 236 yards on the ground, likes the progress his team has shown recently.

On the recruiting front, Macarthy continues to hear from many of the same schools, including Iowa, Central Michigan, and Purdue. He attended Central Michigan's home game against Buffalo earlier this year and Purdue's contest against Oregon. Next up is a trip to Iowa in a couple of weeks for the Hawkeyes' game against Penn State.

While Iowa and Central Michigan have offered, Purdue is still in the evaluation stage with Macarthy. Other schools, such as Boise State and Kansas State, remain in touch and are looking over his senior film as well. What coaches see at this point is a tall, athletic quarterback who may be rough around the edges, but has potential.

Rivals.com ranks Macarthy as a three-star prospect and the No. 15 dual-threat quarterback in the nation.
