ISU visit has big impact on Broomfield

This past weekend, Palm Bay (Fla.) Bayside safety Deon Broomfield made his first ever visit to Ames, Iowa, yet when the 6-foot-0, 170-pound prospect stepped foot on Iowa State's campus he had people calling out his name. Broomfield talked about his official visit to Iowa State in the midst of his return trip home.

"I'm in Minnesota right now on the way back," Broomfield reported. "It was everything that I thought it was going to be. It was great from the fans, to the game atmosphere to the city of Ames. It's a great college city. The people there were nice and it was crazy.

"The place was rocking, and even though they are rebuilding the fans were behind them 100 percent. That's a good thing to see. It blew me away that a team rebuilding has that much support," Broomfield commented. "The fans, they knew who I was when I was walking through the stands to sit down."

Heading into his official visit with Iowa State, Broomfield held offers from Florida International and Florida Atlantic to go along with the one he had from the Cyclones. After experiencing all Iowa State had to offer, however, he has them clearly at the top of his list.

"They are ahead big time," Broomfield said.
