Beatty, Devine learning from each other

MORGANTOWN--Earlier this season, West Virginia running backs coach Chris Beatty had a dilemma on his hands. He certainly did not want to be known as the "Dean Smith of college football."

He had firebrand Noel Devine, which in no way was a dilemma, and he wanted to figure out a way to help his 5-foot-8, 170-pound lightning bolt excel.

Smith, of course, was the North Carolina basketball coach who indirectly "held" arguably basketball's greatest player ever to conservative scoring during his Tar Heel career.
