One of the top Houston LBs still waiting

One of the best linebackers in the Houston area for the 2009 class has managed to hit November without a scholarship offer from an FBS program. Princeton Jackson out of Houston (Texas) Cy-Ridge has had plenty of opportunities to be seen with highly-touted prospects Russell Shepard and Hasan Lipscomb on his team but somehow no school has pulled the trigger on his first offer.

"I'm hearing from Iowa State, University of Buffalo," Jackson said. "I have an offer from Texas Southern. U of H is also interested."

Averaging around 12 tackles per game this season, Jackson has good size, a great motor and a physical attitude. Perhaps one reason for the slow recruitment has to do with the other sport that he excels at.

"I play baseball, first base and outfield," he said. "I'm getting a lot of attention from pro scouts right now. I'm going to Australia in December for a 12-game tournament. We'll be playing against Australia Minor league teams. I'm the only guy from Texas on the team."

While there is a strong possibility that baseball could be in his future in the long run, Jackson is hoping to pursue football in the short term.

"I'm wanting to play football but the only thing that could possibly take me out of that is the draft," he said. "I'd prefer to play football in college and get my education."

Jackson has a serious interest in all of the schools that have been actively recruiting him to this point.

"I like U of H. I like Iowa State and Buffalo. Those three schools I really like their traditions and what they're doing on the field."

Not only is Jackson physically imposing and athletic, but he also shows leadership quality on the field.

"I would say my strengths are motivation and keeping the team involved and staying up and flying around the football."
