Omaha OL watches Iowa victory

Offensive lineman Jon Lechner was among the visitors in Kinnick Stadium this past weekend that saw the Hawkeyes beat Penn State 24-23 on a last second field goal. The 6-foot-5, 310-pound Lechner, who attends Omaha Creighton Prep, enjoyed the chance to visit Iowa City and watch the game.

The three-star prospect also had a chance to talk with Reese Morgan, Iowa's offensive line coach, who has been staying in touch on a regular basis in recent months. The Hawkeyes have yet to offer the Omaha native, but remain among the schools he is interested in.

Currently, Lechner says he has scholarship offers from, "Louisiana Tech, Buffalo, Ohio, and Iowa State." At one time, Nebraska and Wisconsin had offered, but he believes they have moved on at this point.

This past summer, Lechner was ready to commit to the Badgers, but the two sides parted ways when there were some questions on whether he would qualify academically. The offensive lineman continues to make progress in that area as he awaits his latest test results.

While he waits to see how he did, Lechner's focus remains on the field as Creighton Prep is currently undefeated on the season and in the Class A state playoffs in Nebraska. This Saturday, they play 8-3 Millard South for the right to play in the state championship game.
