TCU Shows Rainey the Love

TCU has been sitting at 15 commitments for some time now. Although the product on the field has been stellar, the flury of early commitments has meant that the Frogs have been quiet on the recruiting front as of late. At least that's been the case until now. Do it all athlete, Derrick Rainey was on hand Saturday for TCU's 44-10 thrashing of Air Force and he likes what he sees.

"TCU really stepped up while I was there" said Rainey. "I didn't expect it to be like that but it was perfect."

The Houston Northbrook athlete has noticed a spike in attention coming off of a solid senior campaign. With offers on the table from TCU, Iowa St., Baylor and Arizona, it's clear that Rainey is a wanted man. More offers could be on the way but Rainey has a school in front that may be pretty hard to beat out for services.

"TCU looks like the perfect fit for me but I don't want to rush my decision. I want to take all of my visits and then go from there" said the Northbrook star. "TCU is going to be hard to beat, Arizona and Missouri are going to really have to show me something."

With visits scheduled for December the 6th at Arizona and December the 12th at Missouri, Rainey will have a better idea about where he'll end up in the very near future. So what was it about TCU that stood out to the young playmaker?

"The campus was great. It wasn't too big and it wasn't too small, it's a perfect fit for what I'm looking for" said Rainey. "I learned a lot about TCU's academics while I was there and it looks lke it would really be a perfect fit."

During his visit, Rainey watched as the Horned Frogs ran their record to 10-2 on the season with a big 44-10 victory. The game made quite an impression on him.

"While I was watching the game, I saw myself playing running back and receiver in their offense" said Rainey. "I could see myself running their spread and option plays. The game was great, I really liked the atmosphere."

Rainey went on to gush about the players that he got to meet and stated that he thinks he could fit right in with the current group.

"The players were great, they were really cool" said Rainey. "I could see myself playing with those guys, they're really fun to watch."

After talking to Rainey, I get the sense that it's the Frogs battle to lose. the Frogs offer Rainey everything that he's looking for and he seems to really like the match. The question is, can Missouri and Arizona do enough to sway his decision? It looks like we'll just have to wait and see. Stay tuned to PurpleMenace.Com for all of the latest recruiting information and to see if Rainey decides to wear the purple and white.
