Heisman race: McCoy, Bradford neck and neck
As the temperatures get colder around the country, the race for the Heisman trophy is just starting to heat up. The 925 Heisman voters received their ballots this last week and many voters are still shuffling their rankings from game to game.
For the last few weeks Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell has been the heavy favorite as he led a then undefeated Red Raiders team with wins over Texas and Oklahoma State. After the blowout loss last week, Harrell has dropped in the rankings and Texas quarterback Colt McCoy and Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford have stepped up as the heavy favorites.
Neither Bradford nor McCoy has a significant lead over the other in our tracking poll this week, but with Oklahoma's impressive performance against Texas Tech on Saturday night Bradford currently holds a slight edge.
"Hard to argue with his performance against Texas Tech," one Heisman voter said.. "That probably put him over the top."
Of the 41 voters we polled this week, 21 have Bradford first on their ballots, with McCoy close behind with 16 first place votes.
We use the actual Heisman scoring system, all ballots had three names on them and we scored on a 3-2-1 scoring system.
