Ferguson ready for Fort Collins visit

Colorado State will host South Grand Prairie (Tex.) cornerback Thomas Ferguson this weekend after a visit from the Colorado State coaching staff. Thus far Ferguson has scholarship offers from Utah, Arizona and Central Florida. Ferguson names his top two teams right now as Colorado State and Utah. This weekend's trip could go a long ways towards helping him pare that down to one.

The South Grand Prairie defender is 6-foot-1, 205 pounds and runs a 4.5 40-yard dash. Ferguson's South Grand Prairie High finished the year 8-3 with a loss in the first round of the playoffs. Individually, Ferguson scored 45 tackles, 15 for a loss and nine sacks playing linebacker, safety and even cornerback. Ferguson claims a 305-pound bench press and a 430-pound squat. He has also recorded a 35-inch vertical leap.

Ferguson was visited last week by Colorado State Offensive Coordinator Greg Peterson.

"I talked to Coach Peterson on Thursday when he came in and he sounds like a real cool dude," Ferguson said. "He came to visit me and he is going to come down here again tomorrow (Monday).

"We really got to see each other and know each other a little more," Ferguson added. "He came down to get a transcript from my counselor and when he comes down tomorrow, I think we will actually talk business."

Ferguson has his grades in order as illustrated by a 3.25 GPA and a 1330 on his SAT. He said he plans to major in business or psychology. His plan is to be in Fort Collins on Friday for a visit, which will be his first college visit of the fall.

"I want to see the campus and what that looks like and the view," Ferguson said. "They tell me it is real nice up there. He (Peterson) told me when he left Colorado it was 70 degrees at the time. He was saying it was really nice up there. Down here, we hardly see snow so that would be a hard thing, but fun. I've never gotten to play in the snow."
