Aggies after Louisiana athlete

Texas A&M has been focusing quite a bit effort on raiding the state of Louisiana as of late. The Aggies combed the state over the past few weeks and identified several top prospects.

One of the players they discovered was Eunice wide receiver Tharold Simon. The versatile athlete draws rave reviews from head coach Paul Trosclair.

"He's a defensive back/split end for us," Trosclair said. "He comes in a 6-4, 185 (pounds). He's definitely one of the better players that we've ever had.

"He could play either one of them in college, I think. He starts on defense for us and we use him on offense when we need him. We run the ball a lot more than we throw it, but he's been our leading receiver ever since he was a freshman. He started midway through his freshman year. He's also led the team in interceptions the last two years, so he's a special athlete. He's a basketball player, too."
