State's Top Prospect Talks Visit
Tennessee rolled out the red carpet for more than a dozen official visitors this weekend, almost any one of whom would qualify as a significant Signing Day surprise for the Vols' upcoming class. Memphis wide receiver Marlon Brown--the state's top-prospect--made his long-awaited trip to Knoxville. Did the Vols do enough to improve their chances of landing him on Wednesday?
Brown (6-foot-5, 210 pounds) has been at the top of Tennessee's 2009 recruiting wish-list since offers first started going out to that class.
His status as a top-target didn't change at all when the Vols' coaching staff got revamped, and Lane Kiffin famously made Brown's home his first recruiting visit after being announced as Tennessee's head coach.
That move and subsequent efforts by Kiffin and his staff have helped the Vols make up some ground that was lost in the wake of the coaching change, but most viewed this weekend's official visit as the Vols' last crack at swaying the best prospect in the state and one of the top pass-catching threats in the nation.
