DB Young has busy schedule

Olney (Md.) Good Counsel cornerback Louis Young gave a very early verbal pledge to Stanford back in October but is keeping his other options open.

The 6-foot-1, 198-pound defensive back will undoubtedly be near the top of Maryland's state rankings for the Class of 2010 when they first come out, and plenty of schools are eager to try to talk him out of his commitment.

Young now holds offers from Maryland, Boston College, Stanford, Virginia Tech and Kansas State.

In a recent interview he said that he has received a lot of interest from Wake Forest, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, North Carolina, Duke, Oregon, Michigan, Michigan State and Nebraska.

He went on to say that he is still interested in a lot of the schools that are recruiting him, but kept the specifics of that to a minimum.

"What I like about the schools recruiting me are the coaches and how I can relate and interact with them," he said. "It's crucial for me to feel comfortable and I want to be in the best position possible for the next four years.

"Knowing I can play right away as a freshman is key, too."

Young will be busy in the near future, as he plans on taking trips to several of the schools recruiting him.

This weekend he will be attending the Pittsburgh Junior Day. He will be at Virginia on February 28, and will later attend similar events at Stanford and Boston College.

"There are other schools that me and my family are looking to visit," he continued. "I've already visited Maryland. I'll also be visiting Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and West Virginia.

"When I go to Pitt this weekend I'll be with my teammates E.J. Scott and Troy Gloster. I know for sure I'll be at the Penn State NIKE camp, too. Also, I'll be at UConn for a visit."

This past year Young recorded 34 tackles, 11 pass breakups, five interceptions and three tackles for loss.
