Maclin has high hopes for draft
The last Missouri Tiger to be drafted in the first round was Justin Smith, who went fourth overall in the 2001 NFL draft. Jeremy Maclin seems to be a sure bet to be the next Tiger to go in round one...and he could crack the top ten as well. PowerMizzou.com talked to J-Mac about his hopes for this week's NFL combine and the April draft.
PM.com: Jeff told me it was very important with you to sign with an agent that would allow you to stay in Columbia to train. Why?
JM: "I feel like Mizzou has never let me down, so there was no point in me switching going somewhere else. I've been here for three years and I've done nothing but get faster, bigger, stronger. No point in going somewhere else."
PM.com: Going into the combine, will you participate in every drill?
JM: "You have the opportunity to pick and choose, but nine times out of ten, that means you're hiding something. My goal is do everything. If you really can't do something, if you're hurting, of course, don't do it. My goal is to do it all, but the 40-yard dash is the most important."
PM.com: What are you hoping to run?
JM: "My goal is to break into the 4.2s."
PM.com: We see all the mock drafts, but do you get any type of a feeling yet which teams are really serious at this point?
JM: "I probably have had all 32 teams call and just ask about me. Anything can happen, teams can trade up, trade down, on the day of the draft they can change from an offensive tackle to a defensive tackle, from defensive end to a wide receiver. It all just depends. You can't get your hopes up. Nobody knows. You've got to go do what you're capable of doing and don't get too wrapped up in the hype."
