Maryland TE has visited three

No one can accuse Bethesda (Md.) Georgetown Prep tight end Paul Phillips of taking a passive approach to the recruiting process.

The 6-foot-5, 215-pound tight end has already visited three schools in the hopes of learning more about the various programs recruiting him. He has yet to receive any offers but he is on the mind of plenty of college coaches.

Phillips comes from a family with a good athletic track record. His brother Andrew is currently a junior offensive guard at Stanford and his brother Colter is a freshman tight end at Virginia.

"I have visited Stanford, UVa and last weekend Northwestern," Phillips said. "I'm just sending out my tape so I don't have any offers yet.

"(The visits) were all great. I have older brothers that play at Virginia and Stanford so it was great hanging out with them and their friends."

While he doesn't have a brother at Northwestern, the Wildcats managed to impress him while he was checking the school out.

"The campuses were both great and academically they are really top-notch. I was really impressed with coach Fitzgerald at Northwestern. I love the offense he's running and the role the tight end or H-Back plays."

What factor will location play in his decision?

"Location will play a little bit of a factor. With my older brother at Stanford it has been a little hard on my parents having to fly out from Maryland to California so I would like to make it a little less complicated for them. Right now I'm probably favoring the east coast or the Midwest for a school."
