Spartans offer Ohio lineman

One of the top players in Ohio that the Michigan State staff has been activley recruitng for quite some time now is Christian Pace of Avon Lake High School. The 6-foot-3, 260-pound prospect was offered a scholarship by Coach Dantonio yesterday and has the details.

Last fall introduced Michigans tte fans to a playr by teh name of Christina PAce. We indicate dthat he had a great chance to be one of the player steh Spartans offer for teh clas sof 2010, yesterday that is exactly what happened.

"Air Force and Michigan State both offered me today," Pace said. "Michigan State told my coach last week for me to call on Monday so that is what I did. I spoke with Coach Treadwell for a while and then Coach Dantonio. Coach Dantonio offered me a scholarship."

Pace is known for his run blocking. He has excellent feet and finishes his blocks well. Michigan State believes Pace would be a great fit at the center position.

"Michigan State said they like me at center for sure, he said. Most other school shave said either guard or center. Bowling Green and Toledo have said I could gte a look at tackle."

The offer from Michigan State, brings Pace's scholarship count to 14. Pace is alreay very familiar with the Spartans and plans on makig another visit to East Lansing soon.

"I am going to try and make it up for a spring practice. I have already been up ther etwoice. I was up for teh Noptre Dame game last year and I also went to thgeir junior day a few weeks ago."

The offer from the Spartans was very welcome as Michigan State is one of the schools that Pace is seriously considering. With that said, Pace stated he is still open is his recruitment.

"I don't really have a favorite right now, he said. The big schools do stand out a bit right now though. Academcis are also improatnt to me as I want to make sur ethat I am set up with a good degree when I am done playingh football."

As with any Ohio payer, the Buckeyes are always in the picture. We asked Pace what he is hearing from Ohio State.

"I hear from the a little, they invited Danny (Dan Schneider) and I down for a spring practice. They have signed a lot of offensive lineman lately and they alreayd have Andrew Norwell, but I am taking a look."

With an impressive offer this early oin teh process coul an early decision be in the mix?

"Making a decision before my senior season would be nice, but it is not necessary. If I have to take my official visits that fine."

Under Coach Dantonio Michigan State is very selective when it comes to offensive line recruiting. The fact that they offered Pace prior to camp is an indcation that he is somebody the like quite a bit. With that said, offensive line scholarships could fill up quickly.

The Spartans will likely only take 3 offensive linemen for this class and it will liley be a situation of first come first serve.
