Deering has interest in Ohio State

It would be hard to blame the family of Tampa (Fla.) Leto High School athlete Jeremy Deering if they couldn't keep up with him during his games, especially because he sees time at quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and safety for his school.

The Ohio State coaching staff, however, has kept a close eye out for the 6-foot-2, 204-pound athlete.

Ohio State, though, isn't the only school keeping track of Deering during his recruiting process, as the junior has in the neighborhood of 10 offers coming from schools like Kansas, Kentucky, Oregon State, Purdue, South Florida, Syracuse, Central Florida as well as one from Ohio State.

Deering is also drawing attention from schools like Florida, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Illinois.

"The recruiting process is going good, I am just trying to figure out what offers I have and what offers I have after spring before I narrow everything down," Deering said. "Right now, I don't know all of the offers I have because the schools also call my coach."

One offer Deering is quite sure of is Ohio State, a school that has certainly caught his attention. Deering has been in contact with assistant recruiting coordinator Greg Gillum recently and is enjoying the attention he is getting from Buckeye representatives.

"He was just telling me a little bit about Ohio State and was trying to get to know me," Deering said of his conversation with Gillum. "It was a good conversation."

The Buckeyes could be hearing from Deering more in the future, given the standout receiver has taken quite the interest in Ohio State.

"Right now I really like Ohio State," Deering said. "I think they will be one of my top choices when I get my list of top five colleges. I think they will be in the top 5."

Deering said I still wants to explore what Ohio State has to offer more, admitting he wasn't exactly filled in about everything regarding the scholarship and what the Buckeyes have to offer.
"I want to look into them more," Deering said. "I don't know a lot about them. I just know about their reputation and stuff."

Deering took some visits to some Big Ten Conference schools when he saw what Illinois and Purdue had to offer early this month and came away quite impressed with both the Boilermakers and Illini. The junior also saw some schools in his area, taking trips to both Central Florida and South Florida.

"All the trips went good," Deering said. "I also went to Florida. As of right now, I don't have an offer from Florida, but they said they because they want me to go to their camp for me to get an offer. They said if I do that, I will have an offer from them, but it's not official yet."

Deering has yet to see Ohio State, but admitted he wanted to take a trip to Columbus eventually.

"I want to make it out there," Deering said of Ohio State. "

Most schools looking into Deering are recruiting him as a wide receiver, he said, but the versatility is surely something that will continue to work in his favor as the recruiting process continues.

For Deering, he just likes being out on the field.

"I don't know," Deering admitted when asked what position he prefers to play. "I just like to play, really."
