Coaches and offers pouring in for Broadway

Baton Rouge (La.) Capitol dual-threat quarterback Terrance Broadway has seen numerous college coaches come through his high school this spring to check in and check out the talented prospect. The majority of those programs have left scholarship offers behind.

This spring alone, Houston, Southern Miss, Colorado, Louisiana-Monroe and Utah have all come through Capitol and offered Broadway full scholarships. Each of them has left an impression.

"I know a lot about Utah," Broadway said. "They had the team last year that went 13-0, had an undefeated season and beat Alabama in the Sugar Bowl.

"I know about UL-M. They beat Alabama two years ago in Alabama.

"Southern Miss, they're only two hours away and I know a little bit about them. I went down there and liked what I saw and Brett Favre came from there so there's a plus too.

"Houston, they run the spread offense so I've been keeping in touch with them for like three months now and they just offered on Thursday so I was really excited about that."

Oregon and Tulsa have also come through this spring to check in on Broadway but while the athletic prospect has a lot to think about with recruiting, he is also focused on getting his team ready for the fall.

"We're enjoying it out there," he said. "I thought we had a lot of work to do because we were losing 19 seniors but there was only a couple of them that really played. Our defense is still strong and our offensive line is still strong. We're losing two or three receivers so our receivers are working hard every day."

Individually, Broadway has stepped up as a leader for his teammates, a role he was comfortable with even as a sophomore. In fact, though Broadway knows he always has room to improve, he is focused more on helping his teammates improve this offseason.

"Right now I'm not really focused on my self," he said. "I have a lot of work to do with my young receivers so my main goal is to get them better day by day because they're young and then I'm going to focus on my self in the summer as I keep working with them."
