Dallas OT starting to gather offers

Dallas (Texas) James Madison offensive tackle Javius Townsend had a big year in 2008, dominating the line of scrimmage and making a name for himself as somebody that can make an impact on the next level. As the spring comes to a close, college coaches have confirmed that belief as well by offering him multiple scholarships.

"It feels exciting that someone from James Madison can get looked at," Townsend said. "I feel wonderful."

Townsend has received his offers from New Mexico, Colorado State and North Texas with verbal offers also from New Mexico State and UTEP. Happy with his new offers, Townsend still plans to take his time with any decisions.

"I have interest in all of those schools but I'm going to wait until signing day of next year to make my decision," he said.

Along with his offers, Townsend is also hearing from Oklahoma, Duke, Baylor, Purdue and Oklahoma State. He also is planning on visiting some schools this summer, though his schedule is still up in the air.

After a strong junior season, Townsend is confident that he has earned his opportunities.

"I had a rather remarkable season last season," he said. "I played every snap 100 percent and every game 100 percent. I worked hard. My strength is my pass blocking, I'm good at embarrassing defensive ends. That's what I do. I'm good on my feet."
