Ohio lineman attracted to USC

Avon Lake (OH) OL Christian Pace recently picked up an offer from line coach Eric Wolford and South Carolina.

"I'm up to 23 offers now," he said. "The latest ones are from Illinois and Stanford."

Pace has been busy, hitting the road to visit several schools.

"I've seen twelve schools already," the three-star center prospect told GamecockCentral.com. "I liked every school."

While Pace did not visit anywhere that he did not like, there were a few that stood out in his mind.

"Penn State, Northwestern, Michigan, Indiana, and Michigan State stood out to me," he said.

The summertime is a popular time from prospects to hit the camp circuit, but Pace has not yet planned where he will go.

"I'm going to wait until the spring evaluation period is over and then decide where to go," he said.

Pace likes South Carolina because of the reputation of the coaching staff.

"I know Coach (Eric) Wolford from when he was at Illinois," he said. "I like how he coaches and how he treats his players."

Pace talked about the head ball coach.

"Coach (Steve) Spurrier is one of the best coaches out there and he knows how to win and will win again in the best conference in college football," Pace predicted.

When he begins narrowing his list, the talented lineman will look at a couple of factors.

"I will look at the academics of each school and the majors they offer," he said. "I also will base it on how comfortable I am with the coaching staff."

Pace plans a decision before his season begins.
