Rivals100 OT talks UA
Elite offensive tackles are always a scarce resource so it's no surprise that Olive Branch (MS) star Damien Robinson has received offers from most major programs in the South already with more offers pouring in every week. But while the competition for Robinson's signature is already hot and heavy, the 6-foot-7, 330-pound lineman isn't ready to dive into the recruiting process head first just yet.
"I honestly haven't made an opinion on anyone yet," said Robinson. "Everyone who has offered me a scholarship is even at this point. It's still early and before the summer starts, I'm going to sit down with my coach and sort through the offers and then decide where I'm going to visit."
Alabama is one of nearly a dozen schools that have sent Robinson scholarship offers along with fellow SEC powers Arkansas, Auburn, Ole Miss and Mississippi State and while Robinson wasn't ready to put Alabama ahead of anyone else on the list, he did have plenty of positive things to say about the Crimson Tide.
"I know Alabama has a really strong team and a group of guys that really care about each other. Everybody there is committed to getting better and the coaches have a great reputation for helping players get to the next level. There are a lot of great things about Alabama but there are a lot of great things about a lot of other schools too. It's just too early to put anyone in front of anyone else."
Don't expect a quick decision from Robinson as he will be taking his time with the recruiting process and has asked his high school coach Scott Samsel to handle most of the recruiting process for him.
"I'm staying focused on working out and getting better so I can make the most of my senior season. I've really left the recruiting stuff up to my coach and pretty soon we will sit down together and start to go over everything. It's going to be my decision but I trust my coach's advice so what he says means a lot to me."
Robinson is ranked the nation's No. 10 offensive tackle prospect and the No. 67 overall prospect in the latest edition of the Rivals100.
