Tenn. running back looking at the Black Knights
It is safe to say that Tennessee has never been a recruiting hot bed for talent for the Black Knights. But you can bet that the Army staff will have their eyes focused on the city of Memphis this summer and during the upcoming high school season.
Because that is where 3-star running back, Keith McBride coming out of Memphis (TN) Memphis University School is making a name for himself.
Last season, the talented 6-foot-0, 210 pound back, shared time in the backfield, but this season, it's his backfield and basically, his alone. "The backfield is pretty mine this year, but we will run a two back offense sometimes," says McBride, who was able to accumulate 500 yards rushing and another 230 yards in receptions with seven touchdowns in his split duty. "But this year, we will mostly run the spread with one back in the backfield."
McBride "Received his Army offer two weeks ago and his recruiting is being handled by Roverback Coach John Brock. "I spoke to Coach Brock last week," declares the top-flight running back. "It went pretty well and he said they were sending the official letter in the mail for the offer. I was pretty surprised, because I hadn't communicated with them until that point. I definitely want to check out Army, but Duke is my clear favorite at this point."
With Duke topping his current list of schools, the McBride will be vacationing in the Durham area on June 23rd and plan on visiting Duke University.
In addition to Duke and Army, the Memphis prospect shared that Northwestern would be getting back to him after all their camps were complete and that he is also in regular contact with Vanderbilt. Although he mentioned that he hasn't heard as much Ole Miss since they signed a couple of players from the last recruiting class.
This summer, the swift running back has been impressive in the camps that he has attended. He ran a 4.42 at Southern Miss camp last week and had an impressive 34 vertical at the Northwestern camp on Monday.
Other camps on McBride's itinerary may include Mississippi State tomorrow, although he will miss Duke's camp this weekend, he will attempt to make the Memphis summer camp.
McBride, who is just a solid in the classroom where he maintains a 3.55 GPA cumulative, has made academics one of his factoring points when selecting a college. "I haven't decided what I want to major in, but when I go to a school, I want to feel comfortable
comfortable with the players, coaches and when it comes to the school, I just look for a school with great academics," shares McBride.
When ask to share which running back that he mirrors his style after, McBride was quick to point out Minnesota Vikings' running back, Adrian Peterson. "I would say I try to make my style similar to Adrian Peterson, he's a bigger back
but he's really fast and runs real hard," concludes McBride.
