Malone blows up at UA 7-on-7

The University of Alabama's recent 7-on-7 tournament drew a number of the country's most highly-touted skill players eager to show off their skills in front of the Alabama coaching staff as well as their fellow prospects. No one stood out more at this camp than four-star wide receiver and Crimson Tide commit Keiwone Malone who walked away as possibly the MVP of the event.

"Camp went realy well for Keiwone and our whole team," said Malone's head coach at Mitchell High School Nathan Cole. "We won the 7-on-7 tournament in our division which was really a big accomplishment we felt like because there were so many other talented teams there."

Malone, a 6-foot-1, 165-pound wide out and member of the Rivals250, put on a dominant performance according to his coach and was undoubtedly the key component for Mitchell's run through the tournament.

"Keiwone did his thing. He was certainly one of the most impressive players at the entire camp, in my opinion," Cole said. "He had five touchdowns in one game and I'm pretty sure he led the entire camp in scoring. I think he really impressed a lot of people. He's been doing that for the last two years."

While some have speculated on the status of Malone's commitment to the Tide, Cole said Malone has assured him that his commitment is firm.

"Right now he is still definitely committed to Alabama. He wants to take his visits this fall and because he's a smart kid and he knows that weighing all of his options is the right thing to do. But that doesn't change the fact that he is committed to Alabama and intends to sign there on Signing Day."

Malone has recorded at least 70 receptions in each of his last two seasons, racking up 1,249 yards and 12 touchdowns as a sophomore and 1,407 yards for 19 touchdowns as a junior.
