Love makes smooth transition to corner
Aberdeen (Miss.) running back Jamerson Love is a key component in making the Bulldogs offense go.
But this year the 5-foot-11, 175-pounder will try his hand on defense playing cornerback as well. If this past Saturday at the Magnolia Elite 7-on-7 State Championship is any indication, it's going to be a long season for receivers in Class 3A.
Love lived up to his first name and jammed receivers at the line of scrimmage and either batted away or picked off anything thrown his way on the afternoon. He helped lead Aberdeen to a perfect 9-0 record and a first place finish at the event.
Love already has two scholarship offers from Southern Miss and Arkansas State who are both recruiting him as a running back. Mississippi State on the other hand has not offered but likes him as a corner.
"(The MSU coaches) told me that I have swift hips and a long stride," Love said. "I've got pretty long arms and I've got the perfect body for a cornerback. I'm still talking to State and I'm going to their camp next month. I think it's called Bulldogs Under the Lights. It's on July 24th so I am going to go over there and hopefully they are going to offer me."
Love has the Bulldogs as his favorite because of it's close proximity to his hometown but also because of new head coach Dan Mullen.
"The coach that they've got now has already won several national championships and several bowl games," Love said. "I would love to play for someone like that."
Just what will help Love decide on the right program for him?
