Townsend feels he is the best

You will have to forgive Dallas offensive tackle Javius Townsend if it takes him a minute to list all of his college scholarship offers. The James Madison High School stud now has 12 offers, which he is becoming pretty good at rattling off.

"Right now I have offers from Colorado State, North Texas State, UTEP, SMU, New Mexico, New Mexico State, San Diego State, Buffalo, Idaho, Louisiana Tech, Minnesota and Tulsa. I think that's it," Townsend said.

Townsend said he is currently 6-foot-4 and 297 pounds, with a 480-pound squat. He will lead a James Madison team into battle this fall after a year that saw the Mighty Trojans finish 8-3 and Townsend collect All-District honors.

"We are going to do big things this year," Townsend said. "We have a lot of new people coming in, but we have a whole summer to fit them into that. They are going to fit in to their role and do a good job with that.

Townsend said he is attracting attention from college coaches due to his feet, his passing blocking technique as well as his aggressiveness.

"In a nutshell, I feel that I am the best at my position," Townsend said very politely.

Minnesota has already sent Townsend an invitation for an official visit. The big Texas Tackle said he is also interested in visiting Colorado State and is receptive to what his recruiting coach, CSU cornerbacks coach Tim Duffie, has to say.

"He told me all four of their linemen will graduate the year I get there and if I come in and work hard I can start," Townsend said.

Townsend, who also throws the shot put 43 feet, said each of the colleges he is talking to are "pretty much equal," right now. He added he is willing to leave the state of Texas for college and said when he visits a school, feels comfortable and feels like he fits into a school's offensive scheme, he will commit.

"I am just blessed," Townsend said. "I just worked hard, my coaches helped me, my friends helped me and my teammates helped me. I am just blessed."
