Hill lands second Big 12 offer

Slidell, La. offensive lineman Alex Hill emerged this spring as an intriguing college prospect and has since seen his recruitment get very interesting. After picking up offers from the likes of Texas A&M, Tulane, Southern Miss and others, Hill also earned some in-state interest from LSU. Hill camped in Baton Rouge earlier this summer and left without an offer, but offers are still coming from other programs around the country and one could still come yet from LSU.

Most recently, Hill added his second Big 12 offer when Missouri came calling.

"I added that one about a week and a half ago," Hill said. "It came in the mail and then I talked to the coach right when I got it. I talked to them a little bit and they said how interested they were in me and how they wanted me to be a part of the team and how much they liked my film."

Hill knows the Missouri program well after watching the success that the Tigers have found in recent years. The new offer only added to the surreal feeling of his recruitment.

"I like Missouri," he said. "I love watching them on film. They have a great offense with Chase Daniel and everything. It's kind of weird getting these big schools after me because I never saw this coming. [Missouri] will probably be one of my top 10 choices."

The Tigers from within his own state of Louisiana would be at the top of that list of 10 if he were to get an offer from Les Miles' staff. After camping in Baton Rouge in June though, Hill knows he has to work hard to earn that offer.

"The camp went pretty good," he said. "I learned a lot with what I need to work on this summer. I learned what I need to do if I want to get that offer."

Currently, Hill is taking some time off from camps and he has been at home working out and practicing with his AAU basketball team. He does have some more plans to camp in the future.

"I plan on going to Texas A&M's camp on July 17," he said. "And I'm definitely going to the Ole Miss camp on July 25."

Along with LSU, Ole Miss joins Missouri, Tennessee and Auburn atop Hill's list of favorites and Ole Miss has told Hill that an offer is likely coming his way at the July camp.

One factor that has made Hill that much more intriguing and appealing to college coaches is his move to offensive center that took place in the spring.

"Everybody is recruiting me there once they found out that I play center," he said. "I was backup center last year and I played it all spring and did really good. I impressed myself and my coaches. I didn't have any bad snaps in the scrimmage."

As Hill gathers options, he hopes to be working towards a decision.

"I think I'm going someone that by the end of the summer, I'll be committed," he said.
