Four-star has UA in top 3
When it comes to talking recruiting, Miami (FL) Palmetto athlete Delvin Jones stays pretty quiet. But after attending Alabama's mid-June camp, Jones now appears to have a few more things to say about where he is in the recruiting process.
"It was a good camp. The coaches were all really intense but they also seem like really good guys," said Jones, a 6-foot-6, 230-pound athlete. "I worked mostly on the defensive line but I got to move around a little because I feel like I can be a college-level player at a few different positions."
While USC and Tennessee established themselves early on as co-favorites for Jones, the trip to Tuscaloosa appears to have added another member to the four-star's list of top schools.
"Alabama's definitely in the mix. Right now my top three would be USC, Tennessee and Alabama. I would say all three are even so Alabama is definitely in the mix there."
Jones said he doesn't plan to attend any more camps or make any more visits this summer and is now focused on preparing for his senior season at Palmetto.
"I'm going to spend the rest of the summer working out with my teammates and my d-line. We've got high hopes for this season and all of us seniors really want to put in the work and preparation we need to play our best."
"I'll be taking all my officials in the fall and that top three will almost definitely get three of my visits."
While official visits will surely be a huge factor in Jones' final decision, the nation's No. 16 athlete prospect has another reason to wait until after the season is over to make his decision.
"I've already decided I'm going to wait until after the season to make my decision because I want to see how things go for me as a senior and how things go for all the teams I'm interested in. That's definitely a factor for me, seeing where a program is headed."
As a junior, Jones totaled 70 tackles, including 20 sacks, on defense while also hauling in 9 receptions for 90 yards and a touchdown on offense.
