Trying to read his blocks: Devine surges on

MORGANTOWN--In 26 football games at West Virginia, running back Noel Devine has carried the ball 296 times for 2,028 yards.

With East Carolina (1-0) coming to town Saturday at 3:30 p.m. (ESPN360.com), he is exactly 253 yards from tying Bob Gresham(1968-70) for ninth place on the all-time Mountaineer career rushing list.

Ironically, Gresham may be here Saturday to watch Devine. The Yukon, W.Va., native is being honored--along with head coach Jim Carlen and the 1969 team that upset South Carolina in the Peach Bowl.
