CSU commit looking forward to visit
The surprise of Colorado State's recruiting season thus far has been the commitment of RaShawde Meyers of Cocoa, Fla. The 6-foot-3, 215-pounder committed to the college before ever seeing Colorado and basing most of his research on the Web site www.coachfair.com. This weekend Meyers gets the chance to see the school itself as he visits the Fort Collins campus.
For Meyers, it will be the first time he has been out of Florida and he said he is looking forward to it, but isn't sure what exactly he will see.
"I don't know what to expect right now," Meyers said. "Everything is a mystery right now. Hopefully I see something good."
Meyers said he has been in contact with Colorado State Offensive Line Coach Pat Meyer and is still strong with his commitment to Colorado State.
"I am very confident about my choice."
Meyers said he plans on majoring in either sports management or business.
On the field, Meyers said he feels like an improved player over last season. That is no easy task after a season that saw Meyers score 57 tackles and three sacks. The Florida state wrestling tournament qualifier said his team is thus far undefeated.
"We are doing really well," Meyers said. "Right now, we are 1-0. We beat American Heritage 41-3. I had four or five tackles in that first game.
"I feel like I have gotten to use my hands better and I feel like I am playing with my weight. I got stronger, so I am making it harder for someone to try to stop me," he added.
