Sturdivant to face marijuana charge

UNC rising senior Quan Sturdivant has been cited for misdemeanor marijuana possession, TarHeelIllustrated.com has learned.

Sturdivant, one of the nation's top NFL Draft prospects at outside linebacker, was caught in Albemarle (N.C.) and cited for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana on Saturday.

Sturdivant will have a court date August 2---the same week he's scheduled to begin training camp with the rest of the North Carolina squad.

An All-ACC selection a year ago, Sturdivant led the Tar Heels in tackles a year ago and is widely considered one of the country's top linebackers.

UNC head coach Butch Davis will consult with Sturdivant this week but no determination has been made yet on any consequences or suspension.
