RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech's football team hit the field on Monday evening for the first time in 2010, practicing for two and a half hours on Tech's practice fields. The team worked out in helmets as several Tech fans made their way out to the practice fields to watch.
"My overall impression of the first day was good," said head coach Sonny Dykes. "We have to get better at some spots but I was really happy with some of the newcomers. I thought Ray Holley was outstanding today. Myke Compton had a really good day in the backfield, so was Roosevelt Falls. I was really impressed with the way those guys competed."
Dykes contined, complimenting Compton, Falls and Holley for their toughness and attitude in practice.
"Those guys are just really good, solid, hard-nosed, tough football players," Dykes said. "That's what the rest of these running backs have to do and we need to get our receivers to play a little more physical and compete at a higher level. We've said all along that they are talented guys, but we have to get them to compete at a higher level."
Louisiana Tech will practice again on Tuesday, Aug. 10 at 6:30 p.m. on the Tech practice fields.
